Rebuilding the Digital Banking Experience
As part of a broader brand and campaign refresh, I led the redesign of the Desert Schools Federal Credit Union (now Desert Financial) website and mobile app — transforming the digital experience into an accessible, customer-centric platform aligned with the brand’s new positioning and evolving member expectations.

The initiative reimagined how members interacted with financial products online — improving navigation, usability, and trust while creating a unified experience across all digital and in-branch touchpoints.

The Challenge
Desert Schools’ previous website and app had grown complex over time, with inconsistent UX patterns, outdated design systems, and limited integration between marketing and member services. Our challenge was to simplify, humanize, and unify — building a digital ecosystem that could adapt to member needs, support new campaigns, and reflect the organization’s renewed focus on community and connection.

The redesign established a cohesive digital foundation for Desert Schools — bridging marketing, member experience, and digital banking into one intuitive platform. The new website and app reflected not just a modern interface, but a renewed member promise: that every interaction, from login to loan, should feel effortless, trustworthy, and aligned with the credit union’s community-first values.

From Insight to Execution

1. Discovery

Audited the existing website architecture, app workflows, and user feedback. Partnered with IT, product, and member experience teams to identify technical constraints and opportunities for personalization. Benchmarked best-in-class financial UX to inform design direction.

2. Define

Developed digital experience principles rooted in clarity, empathy, and simplicity. Defined new navigation architecture, mobile-first design standards, and accessibility requirements to ensure consistent usability across demographics.

3. Design

Led creative direction and UX/UI design across the web and mobile experience. Introduced a refreshed visual system leveraging the new brand palette, typography, and iconography. Built responsive layouts and modular content blocks to support marketing agility and real-time updates.

4. Launch & Optimize

Partnered with internal stakeholders and development teams for phased rollout. Established analytics dashboards and A/B testing protocols to track engagement, navigation paths, and conversion behavior.
