Guilt Free Beef

Building a Modern Ranch Brand Rooted in Authenticity
La Cense Grass Fed Beef needed a visual identity that honored its heritage while appealing to a modern, values-driven consumer. The goal was to translate the ranch’s commitment to sustainability, transparency, and quality into a cohesive brand system that could live across packaging, print, experiential touchpoints, and digital.

My role was to lead the visual identity and creative execution — from logo development through real-world applications — creating a brand that felt honest, premium, and grounded in place.

The Challenge
La Cense operated at the intersection of tradition and modern food culture. The challenge was to avoid clichés often associated with ranching while still communicating trust, craftsmanship, and provenance. The brand needed to feel authentic and tactile, yet contemporary enough to stand out in retail, experiential, and digital environments.

Outcome
The La Cense visual identity established a cohesive, modern ranch brand built on authenticity rather than trends. By grounding the design in simplicity, restraint, and story, the work created a flexible system that could scale across print, digital, and real-world experiences — while staying true to the land and values behind the product.

Project Process

From Insight to Execution

1. Discovery

Immersed in the La Cense story — its land, practices, and philosophy. Researched competitive natural and grass-fed brands, identified visual overuse in the category, and defined opportunities to differentiate through restraint, texture, and tone.

2. Define

Established brand principles centered on honesty, simplicity, and place. Defined a visual direction that balanced ruggedness with refinement, ensuring the brand could scale across print, mobile, and experiential formats without losing character.

3. Design

Developed the La Cense logo and core identity system, including typography, color palette, and supporting graphic elements. Designed print materials, packaging concepts, and a bold food truck wrap that brought the brand into the physical world. Led website design to reflect the same grounded, transparent experience online.

4. Launch & Optimize

Rolled the identity out across touchpoints — from collateral and environmental applications to the website and mobile experiences. Ensured consistency and flexibility across formats while maintaining a handcrafted, premium feel.
